Chapter nine: Prophet! Watch That Anger (2)
Incident #12: John The Baptist Too? God Have Mercy
God is no respecter of persons. One case that should leave ministers of the gospel very sober apart from that of prophet Moses who despite all the troubles that he had from those he led, still didn’t get to the Promise land, is the account of prophet John the Baptist (Man. 11:1-6 KJV) For him to have sent two of his disciples while he was in the prison to ask Jesus, “Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another); after he had publicly identified, honoured and introduced Him as the Messiah- “The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”, may indicate two things:
- He may have expected that Jesus could have prevented him from being cast into the prison by Herod, or may have at least helped him come out of the prison
- He doubted everything he had declared in his Ministry about Jesus.
When Jesus sent John the Baptist disciples back to him and said, “Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see. He was simply saying, ‘John! I am the same Jesus who was healing the sick, raising the dead and preaching the gospel to the poor before you were cast into the prison, and am still doing the same works now that you are in prison.
And for Jesus to have further added… “Blessed is he whosoever shall not be offended in me”, no doubt makes one conclude that John the Baptist was indeed offended. He allowed the good feelings he used to have about Jesus to be wounded through frustration and doubt, thus resulting to the negative conduct he displayed. Oh! How many ministers of the gospel have been offended in Christ because things didn’t turn out the way they wanted it to be. And rather than trusting Him till their last breath, they get offended (Matthew 13:21; See chapter 15 for more)
Great Lesson For All Leaders
These true accounts of Prophets Moses and John the Baptist, are clear warnings to God’s ministers who have been mandated to lead His people, never in any way and under any pressure or circumstance, allow the people’s action or words influence them to take any decision that will be counter-productive as far as God’s will is concerned. God will not tolerate this. To this, we see Jesus Word being brought into fulfilment when He said, “…For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.” (Luke 12:48)
Outbursts of anger, especially from a man of God could be a very dangerous one. It is not far from the truth to say that one of the many reasons many men of God find it very easy to curse people, who offend them, is nothing but uncontrolled anger-the lack of control over this emotional character that is already inherent
God’s Stewards-(Bishops or Overseers)
We read in the book of Titus how apostle Paul (through the Spirit of God) admonished that a Bishop or an overseer MUST not be quick-tempered, but should be temperate or self-controlled:
” 7 For the bishop (an overseer) as God’s steward … must not be quick-tempered … pugnacious (brawling, violent);… 8 But he must be hospitable (loving and a friend to believers, especially to strangers and foreigners); [he must be] a lover of goodness [of good people and good thing], sober-minded (sensible, discreet), upright and fair-minded, a devout man and religiously correct, temperate and keeping himself in hand.” (Titus 1:7.8 AMP)
All leaders who have the problem of controlling their anger, should realise that, for the scripture to say, “For our God is a consuming fire,” truly points to the fact that GOD’S ANGER IS HOTTER THAN THEIRS’.
Don’t Provoke A Curse From A Man Of God
I must not fail to state here that it’s not only the prophets or other ministers of the gospel that should learn how to tame their anger, people should be generally warned also not to speak evil against God’s ministers or else they will incur God’s wrath upon themselves. There are people who are living under a terrible curse, because they greatly offended God’s ordained minsters of the gospel.
Apostle Paul had these words to say against those who stood against his ministry:
“of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme”(1 Tim 1:20) “Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lay repay him according to his works. 15 You also must beware of him, for he has greatly resisted our words. 16 At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them”(2 Tim 4:14,15)
Here in verse twenty of first Timothy chapter one, because of the much evil Hymenaeus and Alexander did to Paul, he (Paul) had handed them over to satan, not for satan to destroy them, or for them to rot in hell; but, notice, he said “that they may learn not to blaspheme”
We could also see that in the latter part of second Timothy chapter fourteen that Paul sought for a kind of mercy for those who forsook him during his ordeal “May it not be charged against them”.
We have all been warned not to be quick in getting angry and to return hurt for hurt:
“Don’t be quick to fly off the handle. Anger boomerangs…” (Ecclesiastes 7:9 MSG)
Holy Anger Against Satan Is Very Safe
It is very safe to hate satan if you are obedient in Christ. Satan does not owe us any apology for hating us; and as Christians, we must hate him with perfect hatred with no fear and apology at all for hating him. (Psalm139:22). He is against everything and anything God has created. Whosoever satan likes (he does not have love) is in trouble because that person’s character or attitude is very pleasing to him. If satan does not hate you as a child of God, then it is likely you are going in the same direction with him. Righteousness or holiness is a complete threat to him and his kingdom. The only aspect that gives us an eternal edge over satan is holiness.
The word of God says, Jesus was,
“declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead.” (Romans 1:4KJV)
- The bottom-line or summary of who we are and how victorious or successful we are (or would ever be) as Christians is all tied to the Holy Blood of Jesus.
On one occasion when I used to fast a lot, a certain demon spoke to me right through a lady and said, ‘Why do you hate us so much?’, all because I was just about my Father’s business-ministering salvation and deliverance. If my Father (God) hates satan and his cohorts, why should I like or love them? Don’t we say, ‘Like father like Son?’ Who do you want to be like, satan or God? You must hate satan with perfect hatred if you want to be like God (Christ) in character
Satan Can Only Offer You What He Has Stolen Or Perverted
In another occasion, I was escorting a young lady to a bus stop and a voice spoke through her and said to me. “Chris, why are you disturbing our work … why don’t you join s? We’ll give you everything you want.’ Really? Of cause, I declined. I wasn’t shocked at all at what I heard because many times before then, way back when I got born again, God has enabled me with the ability to discern unclean spirits and I have had several encounters with them. Could someone name one thing that satan has created for our comfort?
Receiving riches or pleasures from satan amount to receiving from him what was originally mine. But then when it gets to me from satan, it becomes polluted. He stole the riches from Adam when he made Adam to lose his position in God through disobedience in the garden.
How can someone whose occupation is to steal, kill and destroy promise to bless you? Is he going to bless you from what he created or what he stole? That would make that person his accomplice. His promises are very deceptive and only characterized with three things. The first is to give you what he stole from God that he got from Adam: secondly, to give you a counterfeit and thirdly to enslave you.
Those who receive things from satan have only been robbed thrice. The first is that which he deceitfully stole from Adam, the second one is their hearts, in exchange for fleshly desires and anxieties, and the third robbery is their eternal bliss in heaven. Don’t forget, his global ministry is to steal, kill and to destroy.
For instance, satan made so many to taste s$x before they grow up to enjoy it in their marriage, and yet s$x is a gift from God to a man and a woman, but not until they are married; he borrows their s$xuality, thereby causing them to sin against God. So, he just stole from them in advance what they should have waited to enjoy, and then makes them reap the consequences of disobedience. Adultery is an extramarital affair against the marriage covenant which is punishable in hell and not without its attendant consequences in the family here on earth
What satan does is to make either partner crave for s$x outside through lust and make people abandon the same s$x they have freedom to enjoy in their union. Many wise people have been rendered very foolish because they didn’t mind to lose the blessed gift from God for the accursed gifts from the perverted Lucifer. And just case you have missed it especially in this area, please to Jesus for forgiveness, cleansing and deliverance. Hem our Lord and Saviour came with love to give us life and to give it to us more abundantly.
What God doesn’t give me now won’t kill me if definitely wait for it to come at the right time. He has appointed. III-gotten s$x and money destroy life to quickly Young lady and young men please war patiently for God to bless you.
- I remain contented with what I have and what I can stretch my faith to grasp within the provision of scriptures. God remains my only and ultimate source for sustenance and existence. And to him I pledge all my life and substance.
Some other time, one lady looked at me and said, ‘I hate you.’ And my reply was, ‘I hate you with perfect hatred.’ Of course I knew that it was an unclean spirit that made that statement. I was just speaking back to the demon in the lady and not the lady herself. I picked this up from Psalm 139 where David boldly declared, that he hates with perfect hatred those who hate God, and counts them his enemies because they are the enemies of God (Vs 21, 22).
Remember, when satan was going to dissuade Jesus against His mission of salvation through Peter, He didn’t say “Get behind Me, Peter!” but “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offence to Me”(Matt. 16:21-23)
- Since our Lord and Saviour, Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, He couldn’t have been smiling sheepishly when He said to satan, “Get thee hence, or get thee behind me” (Matthew 4:10, 16:23 KJV.
- It is highly expected that a true follower of Christ owes God his or her holy anger against satan.
There’s no better way for us to take up any warfare against the kingdom of darkness without been very violent. We are not only anointed to hate the devil and his demons, but also anointed to hate his property sin and destroy all his works, and claim what belongs to us.
